School buses are an extension of the school environment, and it is essential that students follow behavior guidelines to create a secure and respectful atmosphere. Clear expectations for student conduct help prevent accidents, distractions, and unsafe situations. Bus Safety Rules Students are expected to follow a set of basic rules when riding the bus. These include staying seated while the bus is in motion, keeping noise levels to a minimum, refraining from eating or drinking, and being respectful to fellow passengers and the bus driver. Students should also avoid any behavior that could cause harm to others or distract the driver, such as standing in the aisle, throwing objects, or yelling. When boarding and exiting the bus, students must do so in an orderly and safe manner, ensuring they follow all driver instructions. Bus Driver's Role in Safety Bus drivers at Gentry Public Schools are responsible for the safety and transportation of students. They are trained to manage student behavior while maintaining focus on the road and the safety of all passengers. It is important that students respect the authority of the bus driver and follow their instructions at all times. Disruptions, such as loud noise or physical altercations, can divert the driver’s attention and increase the risk of accidents. Legal Guidelines It t is illegal for adults to enter a school bus without authorization or to ignore instructions from the bus driver. This law helps protect the safety of students and the integrity of the bus environment. Parents should be aware of this regulation and work with the school to address any concerns through appropriate channels, rather than taking matters into their own hands. Student Bus Conduct Tips 1. Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes early. Wait in a safe, designated area away from the road. 2. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and for the driver’s signal before approaching. Enter the bus in an orderly line without pushing or crowding. 3. Once on the bus, find your seat quickly and remain seated throughout the ride. Keep your body and belongings inside the bus and out of the aisles. 4. Use a quiet voice when speaking to others. Avoid shouting or loud behavior, as it can distract the bus driver. 5. The bus driver is in charge of ensuring everyone’s safety. Always listen to and follow their directions without argument. 6. Treat your fellow passengers with kindness and respect. Avoid physical contact, teasing, or name-calling. 7. Food and drinks are not allowed on the bus to prevent messes and distractions. Save snacks for when you get home. 8. Wait until the bus comes to a full stop before standing up to leave. Exit in an orderly fashion and move away from the bus once you're outside. This week's teacher spotlight is Heidi Nance. Mrs. Nance serves as the District Dyslexia and Literacy MCL. She is an extremely determined self-starter who strives to support teachers , administrators, and our students daily. She possess an unwavering drive to pursue her goals, often setting her sights high and refusing to be deterred by obstacles. She approaches challenges with a proactive mindset, viewing setbacks as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks. We are thankful for all she does! Go Pioneers!

The Gentry High School Booster Club is this week's featured community partner. The GHS Booster Club never stops. They led the charge to get a new Pioneer mascot, treated our staff to the Happy Wagon, and other things that are too numerous to list. They are an important part of the GHS Family, and we are so thankful to have them. Thank you for all you do for our students and staff. Go Pioneers!

Our fearless leader, Dr. Tyler Broyles, had a very special birthday today. He turned 40! His office staff and leadership team celebrated this milestone with him by throwing a surprise birthday party. Superintendent Dr. Tyler Broyles was joined by several students for a visit to iHeartRadio station to record the latest version of the school district's ads on KIX 104. The students created ads that will be rotated throughout the year to represent our wonderful schools. Participating students include Avery Edmondson, Wade Brown, Emery Brown, and Easton Wiseman.
