Dear District Families,
We want to take a moment to inform you that we are closely monitoring the potential winter weather forecast for next week. While it is still too early to make any definitive decisions, we will continue to watch it closely through the weekend and early next week, while also coordinating with officials from neighboring districts and driving roads if necessary. We encourage families to start preparing a backup plan in case school closures become necessary.
Please note that Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, February 20. However, if school is closed due to weather on that day, we have reserved a backup date of Thursday, February 27. This will only be implemented if classes are canceled on the original conference date.
Currently, our approach is to make up any missed days at the end of the school year, using the five built-in makeup days listed on the calendar. You can find our school calendar on the district's website.
Once the winter season has passed, we will evaluate our total instructional minutes to determine if we have enough banked time to meet the Department of Education’s requirements. If so, we may be able to waive the need for additional makeup days. More information on this will be provided after the winter season ends, but for now, please plan on making up any weather-related closures as indicated in the school calendar.
Thank you for your understanding and for preparing ahead. We’ll continue to provide updates as necessary and keep you in the loop.
Sincerely,
Gentry Public Schools Administration

Have a great day, Pioneers!

A Friendly Reminder About Communication and Support
At Gentry Public Schools, we are here to help and serve our students, families, and community! We believe in open communication and welcome your constructive feedback as we work together to create the best learning environment for our students. To make reaching us easy, our website provides email addresses for all staff members and administrators, so you can quickly connect with the right person.
When addressing concerns or issues, we encourage you to follow a simple process to ensure the quickest and most effective resolution. Start by reaching out to the teacher or staff member directly involved—they’re the ones best equipped to help right away. If more assistance is needed, the next step would be to contact that person’s supervisor. Should it still be unresolved, you can then reach out to the district administration or superintendent.
We understand that social media is often used to express concerns. However, we encourage you to bring any issues directly to the appropriate staff member first, as that is the best way to resolve matters efficiently. We typically do not address concerns raised on social media before an effort has been made to reach out through the proper channels. Direct communication leads to productive solutions, and we are always happy to assist you.
Please note that while the school board is a vital part of our district, overseeing policies and providing guidance, they are not responsible for day-to-day matters. Our teachers, supervisors, and administrators handle these daily operations to ensure solutions are found quickly. While there are policies in place for community members to speak to the school board at meetings about overall ideas and policies, for individual concerns, starting at the appropriate level will save you time and ensure your issue is handled as efficiently as possible.
We’re sharing this as a friendly reminder, not because of any specific issue, but to keep everyone informed about the best ways to communicate within our district. We value every student, parent, and family, and we are here to support you in every way possible. Thank you for partnering with us as we work toward the shared goal of providing the best for our students!
Sincerely,
Gentry Public Schools Administration

This week's teacher spotlight is Mrs. Morgan Bucholz. Mrs. Bucholz serves as the Primary School Counselor. She goes above and beyond every single day to support our youngest Pioneers and their familes. We are so thankful for Mrs. Bucholz. Go Pioneers!

Due to a change in the weather, including lower temperatures and the updated forecast through 11 AM, Gentry Public Schools will be closed today, Wednesday, February 12. Please stay safe and monitor local weather updates.

Gentry Families:
We are closely monitoring the weather and will be out driving the roads early tomorrow morning, ahead of bus routes, to assess road conditions before making any decisions about the school day. We always aim to make decisions as quickly as possible, but this forecast is one that requires us to wait and see what the conditions are in the morning. Unless you hear an official announcement stating otherwise, please assume that school will be in session as usual. Stay safe, and we will keep you updated!

School choice is open! Come join the Pioneer Family !

Lots of wonderful things are happening at Gentry Public Schools. Join us and find out!

Enhancing Safety and Academics at Gentry Public Schools! 🚨
The board has approved the addition of a third full-time School Resource Officer (SRO), providing more dedicated SRO coverage at each of our campuses. This addition will strengthen the presence on more of our campuses and enhance coverage at school events, further improving safety and security across the district. The district and the police department will work together to select an SRO that will be a great fit for our schools, and we expect to see them on campus as soon as that process is completed.
Along with the new SRO, we’ve implemented several other security upgrades, including perimeter fencing, two-way radios, additional door access controls, updated security camera software, and a master key system. The master key system enhances our ability to respond quickly in emergencies, allowing designated personnel to unlock all areas of the building efficiently when needed. A recent round of additional safety grant funding has been awarded, paving the way for even more safety improvements in the near future. We are committed to investing in practical safety measures that help maintain a secure, yet welcoming and comfortable, learning environment.
In addition, we’ve been awarded grant funding to implement Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), which will help enhance academic outcomes across the district. This partnership will provide customized professional development, side-by-side coaching, and direct student support, all led by certified coaches with a strong understanding of state academic standards. The support will be tailored to meet our school and district goals, ensuring a meaningful impact on our students and staff.
We are incredibly thankful to the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for providing funding to help improve both safety and academic outcomes. We are also thankful for the Northwest Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative (NWAESC) for their coordination and support in helping with the PLC grant, and to the Gentry community for its ongoing support!
Stay tuned for more updates! #SchoolSafety #GentryProud #PLCs #AcademicExcellence #ContinuousImprovement #DESE
