Dear Gentry Public Schools Families,
This evening, we drove over 90 miles in four hours along our rural routes to assess the road conditions. Based on our evaluation, school will be in session under normal hours tomorrow. However, to ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we are adjusting some of our bus routes.
Buses 27, 29, 32, 33, and 34 will operate on limited bus service due to potential challenges in specific areas. We have limited service bus routes created already for situations like this. Families on these routes will be getting a separate message soon. If you do not receive any communication, your bus route remains unaffected.
Additionally, bus drivers will use their discretion tomorrow morning to avoid any unsafe areas they encounter that may have worsened overnight or were missed during our assessment. If a driver determines that a route is impassable, we will notify the affected families as soon as possible. We encourage families to plan accordingly for these limited service routes and any other potential disruptions.
We sincerely thank the state, county, and city teams for their efforts in clearing the roads and our maintenance department for their work this weekend on our parking lots and sidewalks. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to balance the priority of keeping our kids in school with the safety of everyone involved.

As we start the second semester, we want to share key insights about student attendance. Regular attendance is crucial for learning and success, as it directly impacts academic achievement. Research shows that being present in class fosters engagement, collaboration, and timely feedback, while frequent absences can create knowledge gaps.
Attendance also affects school performance metrics, including funding based on attendance rates. Low attendance can lead to decreased resources for the school and negatively impact overall performance.
To support families, schools may send attendance alerts via text or email for missed days, as well as letters for excessive absences. This proactive approach keeps families informed and allows for early intervention, ensuring everyone stays engaged in the child's education.
In summary, regular attendance is vital for both individual success and the school community. Parents should take attendance alerts seriously to create a supportive educational environment.
For any questions or support, feel free to contact us. Our administration's contact information is on our website under "Administration," and teachers' emails are listed under "Staff." Reaching out directly to the appropriate staff member will help you stay informed and support your child's success.

Attention Gentry Families,
Due to the forecast for winter weather, we will be dismissing two hours early tomorrow. Our goal is to balance safety with the importance of keeping students in school, while also giving families ample time to plan.
Though the forecast could change, current predictions suggest winter weather will move in by early afternoon, so we are planning ahead out of caution to address all interests.
Here is a link to the detailed dismissal schedule: https://bit.ly/4abpNxZ
